Because it's getting very cold here in Germany, I thought it would be a great idea to follow Mr Weatherman with the first 'wardrobe essentials post' to get warm and cozy for the winter season
(and, of course, with another mug of tea...).

The knitwear chapter is definitely the most complex and difficult in my journey. I don't know why I'm in a love-hate relationship with it. I thought of subdividing it into two parts.
This first post is about jumpers and sweatshirts.
This first post is about jumpers and sweatshirts.
The best, softest and cosiest jumpers are made of Cashmere, but Silk, Cotton or Lambswool (or mixed) are other great materials that will hopefully keep you warm. They feel very light on the skin and are easy to layer.
I buy mine at Woolovers, Topshop, Gap, Selected Femme and in various other stores.

I told myself that one shouldn't be more than 100€ (well...breaking this rule sometimes...).
What you get for your money is extremely important in this topic! I owned some jumpers that were very cheap, like 15€, and they always stayed in my wardrobe for only one season, although I didn't wear them very often. So if you're thinking about buying a new one, I would recommend buying one from 35€ upwards.
For those of you who have a little bit extra money to spend, brands like Acne, APC or the jumpers on the website LaGarconne are great investment pieces.

I separate jumpers into two categories: V-neck and roundneck.
For V-necks I like classic colours: dark and light grey, a light browny beige.

My Roundneck list is a little bit longer... I think Aran or cable knit jumpers would look cute
in white, black, a dark rich navy and light grey.
I'm just not that amazed by those neon colours that have been 'in trend' earlier this year.

The more fine knitted roundnecks I buy are in black, grey, beige and blue.
Additionally, for summer it's always good to go with lighter and brighter colours.
But if you're looking for a classic style, neon is a NO-GO!!!
Maybe something coral or a deep blue are good alternatives.

A grey sweatshirt is another one of today's must-haves. It goes with so much! I absolutely love it!!!
Mine is from Isabel Marant pour H&M. She's definitely the best designer for street style. I've the feeling that she brings a fresh, modern breeze into fashion.

I'm treating myself with a pamper evening and a glass of red wine now!
But before relaxing a bit, let's enjoy the beginning of the season with a lovely poem by Wallace Stevens:
The Snowman
One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;
And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter
Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,
Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place
For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;
And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter
Of the January sun; and not to think
Of any misery in the sound of the wind,
In the sound of a few leaves,
Which is the sound of the land
Full of the same wind
That is blowing in the same bare place
For the listener, who listens in the snow,
And, nothing himself, beholds
Nothing that is not there and the nothing that is.
Happy Winter Time!!
Let me know what you think about the post ;)
And I'm very sorry for the miserable quality of some of the pictures.
