A nice and comfy tee is the most important
item for a classic style. I sub categorized them in shirts with
short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves and long sleeves.
I like the feeling of cotton or slub jersey.

I
got my short-sleeved tees with V-neck and roundneck. My staple colours
are black, white and grey. But I like to get them in red, dark and
neon blue or with prints, too. Mine are from Esprit
(Essentials Collection, not EDC by Esprit), Zara and COS.
And I enjoy making the print-shirts myself (more individual, unique prints).

The
3/4-sleeved tees are all with a roundneck or boat neck. The tees I
already own are in the colours white and black from H&M.
However, the best thing to buy is a classic Breton Stripe. I own one
made by Hollister, but I am afraid they don't make this particular one anymore.
As an alternative, I love the Naval II by St James. Breton Stripes
are definitely the most loved item in my wardrobe.
They are just so 'french-style' and chic.

My
long-sleeved T-Shirts are Breton Stripe or in a dark blue. I own a
dark blue-white striped by Marco Pecci (P&C), the white-blue
striped 'Lesconil' by Armor Lux and the 'Lesconil' in white and red.
It
is not easy to find a good quality, good fitted Breton Stripe,
so I would suggest to go back to the 'old', classic brands like Armor Lux, Petit Bateau and Saint James.
